Objective: Describe the situation of illness and treatment among urban and rural residents inZhejiang Province. Understand the demand and utilization of health services generally; Analyzeaffecting factors of illnesses and treatment among urban and rural residents in Zhejiang Provincewith appropriate statistical methods. Provide the improvement of the health service systemfunctions to make the best health decisions. Achieve the goal of utilizing health resourcesrationally.Methods: This study used the data form health services survey (the home health interviewsurvey questionnaire section) in Zhejiang Province, make statistical description of the index ofhealth services demand and utilization. To verify the prevalence and treatment data whether thereis a hierarchy level: use the two-level logistic method if it is; use ordinary logistic analysis thenaffecting factors if it isn’t.Results: Health Services Survey in2008shows: the two week prevalence and the chronicillness prevalence are26.44%and21.99%.and the rate of Persons with physicians contact withintwo weeks and persons with hospital admission within twelve month are8.60%and7.34%. Thisfour indexes in urban areas are higher then that in rural areas, and the difference was statisticallysignificant. The most important affecting factors of two week is suffering from chronic diseases.The level of education and employment status are also the influencing factors in urban area、familysize、water type and level of education also affect the occurrence of two weeks illness in rural area.Age is the main factors affect the probability of getting chronic illness. The impact factors of illnessalso include Physical examination and employment status in urban area, residents of rural area aremainly affected by the socio-economic factors and personal health behavior factors. The consciousseverity of two weeks illness is an important factor of two weeks outpatient visit, and theprevalence of chronic diseases is the main factors affected hospital utilization. Compared to urbanareas, the impact of economic factors on the treatment of rural residents is more significant.Conclusion: The major factors of disease and treatment are chronic diseases, age, andconscious severity of two weeks illness. Due to the inconsistent levels of various aspects such aseducation, economic, cultural and other differences in urban and rural area, the impact factors ofillness and treatment are different. Raise residents’ awareness of disease prevention and health resources for the different characteristics of urban and rural area; make suitable health policy fordifferent areas to ensure the fairness of health services between regions.
