Objective:To study the impact of two different phacoemulsification incisionson the surgically induced corneal astigmatism for the post operationage-related cataract patients. Methods:Randomly divided those who had undergone the phaco-surgeryfrom August2011to December2011into two groups. Those had incisions onthe edge of the upper sclera (11:00to12:00) are group A, in which includedthirty cases (32eyes). And group B are those on the3.2mm wide transparentcornea of the temporal side with thirty-two cases (35eyes). In order tocompare the impact of group A and B with two different phacoe-incisions onthe surgically induced corneal astigmatism, we observed and measuredcarefully the corneal astigmatism status in various stages of pre-operation andpost-operation (we sampling four stages: pre-surgery, one week, one monthand three months after surgery) under the help of the corneal curvatureinstrument. All experimental data are showed by the means of average value±standard D-value. We adopted T test to make statistical analysis, which meansonly when P<0.05could those differences get statistical significance. Results:By comparing the corneal curvature rate of those two groups in theirstage of pre-operation and one week after surgery respectively, there showsno significant difference and also no statistical meaning for their results P>0.05.However, the statistical comparison of the data got from the stage of onemonth and three months after surgery indicates that the surgically inducescorneal astigmatism of group A is more significant than group B. Conclusion:The phacoemulsification incisions on the transparent cornea ofthe temporal side owns the advantages of relatively short time, minor surgicalcomplications and less adverse effects on corneal astigmatism.
