As one of the most important and severest mental illness, schizophrenia isconsidered to be a major research issue for a long time. According to therelevant epidemiology data, the life-time incidence of schizophrenia around theworld is1%, and the prevalence rate is between3.17‰and7.56‰while therate in China is6.55‰. Schizophrenia is a seriously mental disease which canburden the patients both on mind heavily and in economy. So screening peoplewho has schizophrenic proneness through psychological testing is the key todiagnosis and treatment of schizophrenia earlier, which can reduce the risk andcurb the development of symptoms effectively. Therefore it is of greatsignificance in civil and military circumstance. The purpose of this study is to explore the personality traits of people athigh risk for schizophrenia, namely, schizophrenic proneness here on the basisof situational judgment tests to give the doctors who do the interview a moreobjective measurement. There are two parts. In the first part, we attempt to assess the core characterization of schizophrenic proneness using SJT. Thisresearch adopts behavior event interview (BEI), questionnaire surveys and otherpsychological research methods and establish a personal structure ofschizophrenic proneness preliminarily. On the basis of the structure, situationaljudgment tests are compiled in accordance with the principles of mentalmeasurement, both statistics and technique of SJT is used to assess the corecharacterization of schizophrenic proneness in part two. Then we apply the testto verify the predictability and applicability. The main results of this study are as follows:1The study developed the Situational Judgment Test for schizophrenicproneness which contains21items, forming two Personality domains, whichwere named as negative and positive schizophrenic proneness.2The Cronbach’s α coefficient was0.762.3There was a significant difference between people who had schizophrenicproneness and the normal subjects in test scores.4Combined the result of overall score of ROC curves and diagnostic tests, wemade the following proposals. In actual application, if any one of subscale ofCSPQ(which had three subscale: Dit, Net, Sit) scores≥80points, while the SJTtest socre is≥8points, we might predict this person had schizophrenic proneness, and directly screened out him without the next interview. The total predictedpass rate was93.3%and the predicted pass rate was100%. If any one ofsubscale of CSPQ(which had three subscale: Dit, Net, Sit) scores≥70and≤80points, while the SJT test socre≤4points, we can predict this person doesn‘thave schizophrenic proneness, and directly passed him without the nextinterview. Now the total predicted pass rate was68.4%and the predicted passrate was100%. Conclusions: In this study we found that the schizophrenic proneness SJThad ideal reliability and validity. If we only used the test score as themeasurement parameter, it would lead to the lower predictability due to the highloss rate. However, when considering the test score and CSPQ score together, the predicted results was rather good. Consequently, in order to increase theaccuracy of the predictability, it was feasible to find out the appropriatemeasurement parameter and to further analysis, then revised in the futurepredictability analysis and research.
