Clinical Observation And The Safety Analysis Of Propranolol Gel On Infantile Hemangiomas

Objective: The objective of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and securityof Propranolol Gel in treatment of infantile hemangioma in different types andlocation. It is expected to provide a theoretical basis of the role Propranolol Gelplayed in infantile hemangioma for its clinic use.Methods: Propranolol Gel was applied to51infants with heamngiomas whoare in line with the inclusion criteria of the treatment.Twenty-two were male,andtwenty-nine were female.The age of the infants were28days to12months oldwith a mean age of3.8months.The heamngiomas’ area were5×5～78×18mm.Superficial hemangioma were28,deep hemangioma were6and mixedhemangioma were17.The hemangioma located in head and neck were32,intrunk were10,and extremities were9.We excluded the contraindications oftreatment and gained the consent of family menbers agreement and signedconsent.The infants was applied to propranolol gel three times per day.Evaluate the efficacy of the gel by obseved the size,the colour,the PSV andRI.Evaluate the security of the gel by obseved ECG, UCG,Blood BiochemicalComplete Set et al and the infants’ Blood pressure,heart rate,fasting blood sugarand diet,sleep and other general situation.The results were evaluated usingAchauer system．Results:8in51infants were applied treatment for2month,12were5months,17were7months,14were9months infants.Hemangiomas of children are allstop growth with the size is smaller, texture is more soft after treatment.PSV is lower and RI is increase in25cases (P<0.05).The overall response was scaleI(poor) in4patient(7.84%),scale II(moderate) in18patients (35.29%),scaleШ(good) in22patients(43.14%)and scale IV(excellent) in7patients(13.73%).The changes in superficial hemangioma was better thanothers(P<0.05).There is no significant different in located(P>0.05).Children inthe follow-up process does not appear obvious heart rate,blood pressure andfasting blood glucose decreased; no diet,sleep disturbance;blood biochemicaltests,electrocardiogram and cardiac color Doppler ultrasound examination did notappear abnormal.Conclusions: Propranolol Gel treatment is a safe and effective regimen forinfantile proliferating hemangiomas,especially for superficial hemangioma.Theefficacy is excellent while the side effects are minimal.And it is a new way tohemangioma’ clinical treatment,because it non-invasive safe and convenient andeasier for children to accept.
