【AIM】To observe the New Billiopancreatic diversion (NBPD) surgery influence ofthe levels of glucose、 insulin、GIP and GLP-1in GK rats. To explore possiblemechanisms of the surgery treatment the type2diabetes mellitus.【METHODS】Thirty male GK rats were randomized into three groups: A group undergoing asham operation (sham operation group),B group undergoing NBPD surgery (NBPDsurgery group),C group undergoing DJB surgery (DJB surgery group). Fastingbody weight, fasting plasma glucose (FPG), oral glucose tolerance (OGTT) weredetermined in1week before surgery,4weeks and12weeks after surgery. Randombody weight were determined in1week before surgery,1weeks、6weeks and12weeks after surgery. Random plasma glucose were determined1week beforesurgery,1week,2weeks and12weeks after surgery. Fasting plasma insulin levelsand gastric inhibitory polypeptide (GIP) level and glucagon-like peptide-1level(GLP-1) were determined before surgery and4weeks after surgery.Random plasmainsulin levels and gastric inhibitory polypeptide (GIP) level and glucagon-likepeptide-1level (GLP-1) were determined before surgery and2weeks and10weeksafter surgery.【RESULTS】There were no differences in fasting body weight, random body weight, random plasma glucose, fasting plasma glucose,OGTT, plasma GIP level, plasmaGLP-1level and plasma levels of insulin in three groups before surgery. After thesurgery, fasting body weight and random body weight of three groups rats hadmarkedly increased, there were no significant differences in three groups. There were no significant differences in fasting plasma glucose for the three groups. B group andC group’s OGTT had turn better than A group after surgery. Random glucose inNBPD surgery group and DJB surgery group extremely lower than the shamoperation group. There were no significant differences in fasting plasma and randomplasma GLP-1level and INS level in the three groups. Fasting plasma and randomplasma GIP level were raised in NBPD surgery group and DJB surgery group aftersurgery. There were no significant differences in fasting plasma and random plasmaGIP between B group and C group post-operations.【CONCLUSION】NBPD surgery and DJB surgery both can significantly decrease random glucoseand increase random plasma and fasting plasma GIP in non-obese rats with type2diabetes(GK rats). The two surgeries can attenuate the digestion,it is the crucialreason for decreasing random glucose.
