Objective: To evaluate the left ventricular (LV) systolic function of the patients with simple type2Diabetes Mellitus (2DM) by using Two-Dimensional Strain Echocardiography (2DSE) and to discuss the value in use of2DSE in clinical.Material and Methods:The experiment group (group A) includes twenty-eight objects. They are the simple2DM patients with LV ejection fraction (LVEF)>50%and cardiac impulse, each chamber and wall are normal by routine echocardiography. The control group (group B) is composed of twenty-two healthy volunteers. Acquire LV apical long-axis view (APLAX), two-chamber view (2CH), four-chamber view (4CH), the parasternal LV short-axis at the levels of mitral valve (MV), papillary muscle (PM) and apex (AP) by two-dimensional echocardiography. Using the Echo-PAC workstation2D-Strain software to assess LV peak systolic Longitudinal Strain(SL), Radial Strain(SR), Circumferential Strain(SC), Rotation(Rot) and Twist. Record the dates to analysis.Results:①The LV peak systolic SLs in the most of segments between two groups were significant difference. Each level (MV, PM, AP) and global mean SL in group A were lower than that in group B.②Except the radial strain of AP inferior in group A was lower than that in group B, the rest has no significant difference between two groups.③The circumferential strain in group A were lower than that in group B at the segments of PM inferior, AP posterior, AP antetheca, AP lateral wall. To compare the same levels, the AP was lower. These differences had significance.④The rotation of the AP was bigger than that of MV. The rotation of the ant-septum and post-septum were bigger than the other wall in the same group, and the rotation of this two segments were both bigger than that of group B. The mean twist in group A was15.35°+5.80, and that of group B was8.46°+5.93(P《0.05). The twist in group A was bigger than that in group B.Conclusion:2DSE could accurately assess the LV systolic function in pure type2Diabetes Mellitus (2DM) patients who have the normal LV systolic function evaluated by routine echocardiography.2DSE could detect the early change of LV systolic function and has high value in use in clinical.
