In this study, early growth and development ruls was studied, meanwhile, growth hormone(GH)gene which related to growth traits of pigeon was selected as a candidate gene. By PCR-SSCP analysis, the relationship between single nucleotide polymorphism and early growth traits, slaughter traits of pigeon were used to screen out the molecular marker associated with molecular breeding.1The Fitting of Early Growth Curve of PigeonGrowth and development regularity and genetic parameters of the body weight, phalanx length and keel length of European pigeon and King pigeon from0to27weeks old was analyzed and fitted with three kinds of nonlinear models (Logistic, Gompertz, and Von Bertalanffy). The results showed that growth process of two pigeon could be demonstrated very well by three models, and all indexes of fitness were very high (more than0.98). The best of the model was selected from three models to establish body weight, phalanx length and keel length growth and development model of European pigeon and King pigeon from0to27weeks. It also provides the theoretical reference base for further breeding and improving management of feeding.2DNA Sexing in Pigeon From Feather SamplesPigeon is a kind of monomorphic bird, and also a typical monogamous bird, this situation challenged the couple and human-assisted breeding of pigeon. Using feathers of pigeon as DNA sources, a PCR test was used employing primers that amplify two homologous fragments of both the CHD-W gene, unique of females, and the CHD-Z, occurring in the two sexes. The results showed that:high-quality genomic DNA was extracted from feathers of pigeon.there is a single CHD-Z (450bp)band in males but females have a second, distinctive CHD-W(380bp) band. This sexing technique is objective and non-invasive and could be useful in the management of production 3Polymorphisms in GH Gene and Association with Early Growth Traits and Slaughter TraitsSeven pairs of primers were designed to detect single nucleotide polymorphisms of exon2to exon5of GH gene in European pigeon and King pigeon by PCR-SSCP. Only the products amplified by primers P1, P2and P3displayed polymorphisms. For primer P1, three genotypes (AA, AB and BB) were detected, sequencing revealed one mutation (140Gâ†'A) of GH gene in the genotype BB in comparison to the genotype AA.European pigeon population resulted in genotypes which showed a significant difference in2th-4th weeks body weight, carcass weight, eviscerated weigh, breast muscle weight. For primer P2, three genotypes (CC, CD and DD) were detected, sequencing revealed one mutation (325Aâ†'G) of GH gene in the genotype DD in comparison to the genotype CC.European pigeon population resulted in genotypes which showed a significant difference in heart weight and abdominal fat weight (p<0.05). King pigeon population resulted in genotypes which also showed a difference in abdominal fat weight. For primer P3, three genotypes (EE, EF and EG) were detected, Sequencing revealed one mutation (520Tâ†'C) of GH gene in the genotype EF in comparison to the genotype EE and one mutation (460Câ†'A) of GH gene in the genotype EG in comparison to the genotype EE.
