Purpose: By means of fermentation, it is exploring the biological transformationmechanism of ginseng saponins and starting a new way for new drug development for thepurpose.Methods: The ginseng is fermented by the basidiomycete through the solid fermentationmethod, and using the single factor experiment for screening the best conditions offermentation. The chemical ingredients of the fermented product will be analyzedqualitatively and quantitatively by the thin layer chromatography (TLC) and highperformance liquid chromatography, etc. Though the comparison and analysis, it can interpretthe biological transformation mechanism of ginseng saponins.Results: Though the comparison and analysis of content, it can be found that the contentof the original ginseng saponins Rg1, Re, Rb1of medicinal ginseng are dropped substantiallyafter fermentation, especially the content of the ginseng saponins Rb1, which reduce nearly98%relatively to the medicinal materials. The rare saponins Rg3, Rh1are detected in thefermented product, and the content of ginseng saponins Rg3is0.09%. However, the content ofginseng saponins Rh1is0.009%.Conclusion: Through the solid fermentation, the saponins Rg1, Re, Rb1of the medicinalginseng has been obviously transformation. At present, the ginseng saponins Rg3and Rh1aredetected in the converted products, and the transformation of other saponins will be furtherstudied..
