In order to deeply reveal the complex genetic relationship and mechanism of thetotal starch and beta glucan in barley grain and to offer references for marker assistedselection and quality breeding of barley, the quantitative trait locus (QTLs) controlledtotal starch and beta glucan content in barley grain were mapped by the188DHpopulation which constructed from the Noso Nijo and Tai xing9425.The main resultsare described as following.1. The results indicate that the total starch and beta glucan content in barley grainof the DH lines showed a continuous distribution and have super-pro-type.These traitsware quantitative traits controlled by multiple genes and suitable for QTL analysis.2.7QTLs which were concerned with total starch content were detected. Theywere located on1H and4H chromosome. The single QTL accounted for6.8%to16.7%of the genetic variation. All favorable alleles of QTLs were from the parentNoso Nijo.3.19QTLs which were concerned with beta glucan content were detected.Theywere located on1H,2H,4H,5H and7H chromosome. The single QTL accounted for4.3%to25.9%of the genetic variation.4. The total starch content showed significant negative correlation with betaglucan content in Barley grain.
