The machine bed as the basic support of the machine is one of the key parts to improvethe accuracy of machine tools. Whose strength, the dynamic performance and thermalstability can affect the accuracy of the machine directly. At present, most of the machine bedis made of cast iron whose dynamic performance cannot be able to meet the growingrequirements of the development of precision machine tools, and iron resources areincreasingly scarce at home and abroad. Based on the needs and exploration of seeking newmaterials, researchers discover and develop new materials-polymer concrete formanufacturing machine bed, use of the material or the material filling in the welded steel plateto create sophisticated machine bed become a international trend. However, its cost is muchhigher than the cast/iron bed through statistical analysis. In order to obtain the acceptableprice, results in study of technology and mechanical properties in static and dynamic of a newmaterial-composite concrete shows that its application in the machine bed has great meaningin scientific and theoretical.The concrete content as follows:(1) The mixture ratios of Portland cement concrete and epoxy resin concrete have beenresearched and proposed a method of the two materials compositing technology(2) Portland cement concrete, epoxy resin concrete and composite concrete specimenshave been tested for dynamic damping, anti-compression, anti-tensile, anti-bending, surfacehardness and corrosion resistance.(3) Based on Pro/ENGINEER, Hyper Mesh, Ansys software, damped modal analysis ofa lathe bed made of cast iron and composite concrete respectively has been carried out, andthe two kind of beds has analysis in harmonic response in the two conditions of damped andundamped respectively.The conclusion of the above work has been as follows:(1) The use of super plasticizer mixed in Portland cement concrete can ensure highstrength of concrete with low water-cement ratio and excellent workability of the paste. Theorder and method of components mix together in manufacturing process can ensure theconcrete curing with low porosity effectively. The choice of curing agent and thinner, theamount of concrete curing properties and porosity in the mix process of epoxy resin concretehave the decision effect. In the manufacturing process, the mixing order of fly ash and othercomponents have a greater impact on porosity.(2) By a comparative analysis in static mechanical properties of Portland cementconcrete, epoxy concrete and composite concrete specimens, the static mechanical strength ofcomposite concrete slightly lower than the epoxy resin concrete, slightly higher than Portland cement concrete; the surface hardness, wear resistance of epoxy concrete better than Portlandcement concrete; the damping ratio is basically equal to epoxy concrete composite concrete,and the value is about0.05which is about5to7times larger than the cast iron.(3) Damping modal of cast iron bed or composite concrete bed,undamped/dampedharmonic response have been analysis and obtained the curves of vibration, natural frequencyand damping ratio, displacement–frequency. Compared to the two results, the dynamiccharacteristics of composite concrete bed was significantly better than the cast iron bed,which can take the reference to the research in the dynamic characteristics of the machine bedfor the designers who can grasp the structure of resonance vibration to occurs the area easilyand optimize the design of the machine bed.
