The Study Of Barrier-free Environment Design In Chinese Large General Hospital

With the development of the times, New concepts and technologies in the medical field,have been continually updating, making dramatically changed in the medical spaceenvironment. Building a safe, efficient and humanized medical environment has become aninevitable trend. Barrier-free environmental design has been playing an important role inshaping a humanized hospital environment.The concept of Accessible Design (Barrier-Free Design) first appeared in1974, adesign idea which is put forward by the United Nations Organization. Barrier-freeenvironmental design in the medical space is good or not, has a great infection in modernpsychological and social health effect.The thesis analysed patients’ psychological, behavioral characteristics and needs inmedical treatment, collected the same theory, legal norms and design methods, and combinedwith excellent design cases at home and abroad, at last, pointed out relevant design principlesand barrier-free design elements in large general hospital’s environmental design. based onthis, through investigating a number of large general hospital in Beijing, and maderecommendations for improvement.In short, through this study, the thesis enriched the content and detail of barrier-freedesign. hoping to promote the chinese general hospitals’ environment towards a morehumanized direction.The thesis is divided into six chapters, in chapter Ⅰ, discussed the development of thebarrier-free environmental design and thesis’ research purposes and methods; in chapter II,discussed the significance and meanings of barrier-free environmental design; in chapter III,discussed behavioral characteristics and needs of people in hospital barrier-freeenvironment; in chapter IV, pointed out relevant design principles and design elements ingeneral hospitals’ barrier-free environmental design; in chapter Ⅴ, analysed interior andexterior barrier-free environmental of Youyi Hospital and Chaoyang Hospital in Beijing, andmade recommendations; in chapter Ⅵ，summarized barrier-free environmental design forthe general hospital.
