Research On New Architecture In LHASA From The Vernacularism Perspective

Since the "International Seminar on Contemporary Vernacular——Modernising Architectural Traditions1997", Asian countries are gradually aware of the mistake area of the development of city modernization, the damage from international civilization to regionally civilization. In China,there are more and more protection of local culture and heritage of traditional architecture. Nearly20years’rapid economic development in China, has led to an unprecedented large-scale construction. When the construction trend is about to enter the historical and cultural city Lhasa,I begin to query the city development direction and the architectural creation mentality, and make the thorough research on the new buildings in Lhasa, from the perspective of modern vernacular. Summarizes the factors to architecture creation in Lhasa,to guide its new direction of architectural creation in Lhasa, is a very important topic.Based on the analysis of the emergence and development of modern vernacular architecture at home and abroad, and the research on related theoretics, make in-depth analysis on the local characteristics of the traditional vernacular architecture in Lhasa, summed up the basic language of the architectural creation. On the basis of this language, analysis some typical modern vernacular architecture cases, summed up the design concept and design methods of modern vernacular architecture in Lhasa, reveal its essence on respecting for the natural geographical environment, adapting to the climate of the Tibetan plateau, inheriting the traditional vernacular architecture,reflecting local customs and embodying the nature of religious culture.Finally, on the basis of the development present situation and architectural creation tendency of many cities, propose several kinds of the development trend of city construction andarchitectural creation that may arise in Lhasa,and the outlook for new architectural creation idea in Lhasa, hope to form a new idea of city architectural creation, modern vernacular architecture creation as the main body, integration of a variety of architectural creation trend, jointly promoteing the development of Lhasa.
