The most important criteria for evaluation of a railway project is wheather it matches social, economical and individual needs. The adjustment of railway construction standards and operation modes during The "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" is one example, which aims to fulfill this criteria and has greatly premoted the railway development in China. However such kind of adjustment has some influence on existing as well as on-building railway infrastructures, therefore it is necessary to do a comprehensive study on relative theories of railway operation modes and protential problems, when for example operating midddle-speed passenger trains on high-speed passenger dedicated lines. This paper focuses on the feasibility study on operating midddle-speed passenger trains on high-speed passenger dedicated lines in oder to satisfy diverse travel demands and reduce the number of transfers for passengers. As operating midddle-speed passenger trains on high-speed passenger dedicated lines involves almost all aspects of the railway system, for example, construction, operation and maintenance etc.. This paper provides a systematic overview of problem analysis and solution discription for operating midddle-speed passenger trains on high-speed passenger dedicated lines, which includes six parts:after the review of the railway operation modes on high-speed passenger dedicated lines, relative factors for operating midddle-speed passenger trains on high-speed passenger dedicated lines during the early operation phase are discussed, which includes the distribution of stations, the number of arriving-departure tracks, the transport quality, the length of platforms, the maximal slope, and the maximal load of bridges. Based on those analysis, the driving simulation and the optimal arrangement of maintenance "sky-light". Later on proper szenarios are generated. The main focus of this paper is to provide a optimal distribution of stations for operating middle-speed passenger trains on high-speed passenger dedicated lines. Lastly, the influence on infrastructures and possible problems are discussed. In this paper the deducing coefficience metheod is mainly inplimentied. The optimal distribution of stations is dirived from calculation of the usibility rate of capacity for operational szenarios with different rate of middle-speed passenger trains (over high-speed trains). The metheod used in this paper and final conclusions provide a guideline for construction and operation of high-speed passenger dedicated lines in the future.
