With the constant expansion of the power grid, the management of large centralized control mode unmanned substations there are many problems, such as personnel on the scene are not familiar with the many types and quantities of the various sub-station equipment, various kinds with a single device samples and so on. This has led to rapid familiar with the operating personnel is difficult to fully grasp the actual situation of the sub-station, training is also very difficult.The management of unmanned substations with the large centralized control mode shows many problems, such as not familiar with the field, different types of the substation and large numbers of equipments, a wide range of supporting devices and so on. That makes it difficult for the operators to familiar with the situation of the sub-station and it is also difficult for the training work.It is of great help for the training of operators of the substations by creating a substation visualization system. But traditional three-dimensional modeling method always takes a lot of work and has a long cycle. The3D laser scanning technology appearing recent years solves the problems of the data collection and accuracy, but the significant drawback is the complex process of the post-data processing and synthesis.Panoramic is a virtual reality technology based on the panoramic image. It can achieve a full range of interactive display with the help of corresponding computer technologies. This technology has been developed relatively mature and many applications have been used in the field of landscape display, tourism promotion, commodity promotion and so on. Smooth panoramic roaming experience can be provided by displaying the scene image accurately in a simple3D environment superimposed on3D visualization content via combining fast modeling technology based on panoramic pictures and electrical equipment information visualization.In this paper, the application of substation visualization combines panorama with Open Scene Graph (OSG) technology and the window interface provided by Qt. Users can perform a360degree roaming and switch the viewpoint to check the scenes and the equipments. By using message bus for real-time communication, substation equipment operating status can be watched and simple abnormal event can be simulated.A substation visualization method is achieved in this paper based on panorama and3D modeling technology. This method can provide higher efficiency and better roaming effect. It is more suitable for a large number of substation modeling needs than the traditional3D modeling method. The verification of the substation message bus communication based on this method paves the way for the further use of the communication between the visualization system and the real-time library.
