The Qing Dynasty is the mature developing period of Chinese classical landscape architecture, during which appeared a lot replicas of classical gardens featuring southern China structures. The Suzhou Lion Grove for instance, had been imitated twice during Qianlong Emperor Period, and the Wenyuan Lion Grove in Chengde Imperial Summer Resort was one of them. The scenes of imitation used in Wenyuan Lion Grove is the core of this article. Study of the similarities and distinctions between the two contributes to enrich the theory of scenes of imitation, and it will be helpful to relevant programs.The article uses scientific methods including literature review, hypothetical recovery, digital assistance, etc. And the study is consisting of four main parts:Firstly, through the study the construction history of both gardens, combining with the landscape architectural development situation of Qing Dynasty to analyze the underlying causes of the replication. Secondly, recover the layout of prototype at the right age with the help of historical study done about it, and analyze its art of gardening. The third part is the most important. In this part, the article will analyze the gardening arts of Wenyuan Lion grove by recovering its layout and a constructed model. By comparing with prototype, it will also induce the skills used in the scenes of imitation. At last, some opinions and discusses about the inheritance and development on the skills of scenes of imitation will be offered.
