| With the rapid of urban construction and development, people begin to focus on the high quality of life. Therefore, waterfront space utilization becomes a hotspot for the citizen and tourists that people unprecedentedly pay more attention on the waterfront trail landscape. Relatively speaking, the landscape design for the waterfront trail in China is still in a state of infancy and lacking of special theory of classification.This paper intends to solve the following six specific issues:first, how to study the waterfront trail according to different types and what to begin with the specific design.; Secondly, how to embody the context and characteristic; Third, how to connect the trail and the node space; Forth, how to design the waterfront trail with diverse experience;Fifth, how to design a coherent waterfront trail system; Sixth, how to set up security system for waterfront trail landscape. The content of the study consists two parts: one is the fundamental theory of waterfront trail landscape, including the definition of waterfront trails, landscape constituent elements, characteristics and different classification. Another part is the planning and design methods, including planning principles, design methods and security system.This study obtain the relevant theoretical basis by referring to the literature, get inspiration and learn lessons by analysing projects of field research at home or abroad, apply theory to work and summarized the effect of waterfront trail landscape construction by designing projects.In conclusion, it is better to start from the classification for developing the potential of waterfront space and construction of trails landscape. For riverside, lakeside, coastal trails and other kinds of trail landscape features should be taken to comply with their environmental design practices. To embody context and characteristic, we should study from the context of water system and city, the characteristic of time and region, and express it by using abstract symbols combine with small garden ornaments and facilities. The safety, aesthetics and convenience should be taken into consider when design the connection of trails and node spaces. You can create a diverse experience space from basic experience, entertainment experience, science experience, outdoor training experience and the information experience. Rational planning of waterfront road system can guarantee a coherent trail, excellent management measures can avoid illegal encroachment. Security system embodied in three phases: planning phase, construction phase and management phase. During different phase of project, designers should work with people in relevant departments. Aim to an outstanding effect of waterfront trail landscape, reasonable advanced planning, serious implementation of project as well as the sustainable subsequent management are needed. |
