As the requirement of architectural function and aesthetics is increasing, and the architects’s levels of creativity is improving, on the one hand, the architectural form become more and more complex, on the other hand, the contradictions of structural security and economic requirements are also obvious. Above cause the structural design more difficult. At present, many experts at home and abroad and specifications referred to the performance-based seismic design method, the aim is to grasp the structural seismic performance which is under earthquake especially rarely earthquake conditions. The result can provide the basis for the rationality of the design, this is also the engineering problem of great attention. This paper select a typical a high-rise shear wall structure of Heifei residential area as the object of study, after reforming the original program which is beyond code limits, this paper made the following work:(1) The high-rise shear wall structure are respectively analysised with elastic analysis, the elastic-plastic analysis and floors stress analysis by using SATWE software, PUSH&EPDA software and Midas software, and the results show that the structures has a good performance both in the elastic and inelastic condition after modification, and show that the structure has a good carrying and deformation capacity, in line with the "three level" earthquake-proof target. In addition, this article identify the weak parts of the structure, combined with existing norms proposed the seismic strengthening measures recommended;(2) The study analyzed as above show that the seismic performance-based design of the structure is very necessary, it can more accurately reflect the structure’s mechanical properties for engineering design for reference; two kinds of elastic-plastic method can effectively make up for their shortcomings to the same structure, and the floor stress analysis can visual manifestation of the force of the floor; adapting the structure which is beyond code limits is very necessary in the engineering design becuase this method can improve the the mechanical properties of structure.
