Due to population growing and limited by the land resources,the value of urban land use has become increasingly prominent,so the development of high-rise or super high-rise building structure is imperative.The emphasis on designing high-rise building structure is how to ensure that the structure has sufficient rigidity and good ductility to resist the lateral load and how to assess the structural reliability under earthquake.Based on the study of the design and seismic performance of tall buildings,Steel waterfront project in Tangshan about high-rise residential building of shear wall structure was viewd as an example in this paper.First,we put forword the question of high-building structures' elastic-plastic analysis by the real-life background and describe the characteristics of high-building structures,and introduce adopted elastic-plastic analysis' development?research status at home and abroad under rare earthquake,and introduce adopted the finite element software.Later,the theoretical basis of structural elastic-plastic seismic was discussed.For static elastic-plastic analysis method,displacement and capacity spectrum analysis was introduced based on the Push-over method,and the structural loading mode was also discussed on this basis.For dynamic elastic-plastic analysis method,the calculation method was mainly in troduced.Finally,take a practical project as an example,the appropriate model of structure was established to judgment if the layout of structural system and the design of structural part are reasonable.The structure was analyzed with static and dynamic elastoplastic method under rare earthquake by finite element software MIDAS ?EPDA.We can observe structure's deformation ? defend lateral index parameters?elastoplastic development and so on in order to speculate structure's seismic capacity and make a conclusive about structure's function status.After comprehensive calculation and analysis to this parper,from the calculation results,we know that the seismic design under rare earthquake is reasonable,structure's deformation is allowed by norm,plastic development is consistent with conceptual design,and gets the goals which norms set,and ensure the safe use of the structure instead of endangering people's lives and the security situation.The design progess can provide guidance and recommendations for the design and seismic analysis of the actual project to ensure the safe use of the factual structure.
