Dry-type transformers has broad market prospects because of its excellent performance, as well as its demand for special occasions. With the gradual increase in production capacity of domestic transformer manufacturers, the market competition of dry type transformer is becoming fierce. At the aggregate level, many dry-type transformer manufacturers are still in the manual design calculation and drawing stage, there are many disadvantages of these design methods, such as low efficiency, long life cycle, high labor costs. To deal with the fierce competition, more and more dry-type transformer manufacturers become finding ways that using advanced design and production techniques. More and more enterprises begin to use the CAD technology in the design process of dry-type transformers, thereby improving the efficiency of product design and shorten the development cycle and cost savings. This article used advanced digital design techniques in structural design of dry-type transformers, and completed structural design and drawing of the serialization dry-type transformers. The following discusses the paper content and innovations:First introduced the digital design technology and secondary development of CAD technology, through the VB tools do secondary development of Inventor, different types of dry-type transformers data in different Excel tables, complete serialization dry-type transformers parametric modeling, automated assembly and automatic drawing system. Then introduced the system in three modules:parts module assembly module and drawing module, detailed feature-based parametric modeling methods and surface parameterization method of automatic assembly, the border agent technology in automatically generated drawing. Finally, a detailed description of the system’s hardware and software conditions, design requirements and the overall framework.
