This thesis belongs to the National Science and technology plan subject in rural areas of "Twelfth Five-Year plan", and the Number of the subject is2011BAJ08B01. It is also supported by the subject of the Education Department of Henan Province,and the Number of the subject is2009B560013.With the spread of international architecture, the whole world are facing the crisis of devoid of Architectural Regionalism, which source is Traditional house.So it’s more and more important to record and arrange them,and then protect and update them.Xingyang is located in the transition zone of the Loess Plateau and Yudong Plain, where existing a large number of traditional houses. The special geographical location and cultural environment determines the diversity of its houses, large-scale courtyard houses in plain areas, cave houses building with the mountain in hills, as well as kiln room courtyard houses which between the two combination. These traditional houses, which having local characteristics and different forms, are local precious historical wealth, but also are the portrayal of the diversity of Chinese traditional houses.Basing on in-depth research and a lot of field mapping of existing traditional houses in Xingyang, the paper using the theories and methods of typology, settinghouses morphological differences as a starting point, sorts out and summarizes the settlement patterns, courtyard types, single building types, detail types of traditional houses in Xingyang, and also creating a system prototype architecture of Xingyang traditional houses, then proposing strategies for the protection and renewal of traditional houses in Xingyang from the perspective of the typology, finally aiming at exploring the regional architecture research and practice ways in Xingyang.
