As an advanced way of transport organization, container transport with dumping trailers can generate considerable economic and social benefits, and it has been widely used in Europe, the United States and other developed countries. Since container transport is implemented late in China and its organizational mode is simply between two points, its radiation range is often limited by the selected business routes. As a result of the simple organization modes, the economic benefit and transport efficiency have been greatly limited. In order to solve the problems above, the characteristics of container drop-and-pull transport organization was thoroughly analyzed in the thesis. A vehicle scheduling model with dual goals was also built to study the tractor’s driving route. Then the thesis talked about how to organize the drop-and-pull transport based on the number of loading and unloading points and the flow of goods.Firstly, the paper described the concepts and theories of container drop-and-pull transport and then analyzed its basic requirements, its advantages and its feasibility in China. Secondly, the characteristics of different drop-and-pull modes were summed up and their influencing factors were also studied respectively. The thesis showed that different organizational modes should be chosen for different application tasks. Thirdly, a vehicle scheduling model to minimize the number of vehicles and transport costs was established. Then, a genetic algorithm was designed to solve the model so as to get the optimal traveling path and the drop-and-pull schemes. Fourthly, based the results of the model, different operational modes were figured out for different container drop-and-pull transport in reality. Finally, the paper took the Pearl River Delta Area as an example and compared the pros and cons between drop-and-pull transport and the traditional transport. The example showed that appropriate organizational modes for container drop-and-pull transport could reduce the cost, maximize the profit and improve the overall competitiveness of enterprises. The results from the thesis are of great practical value and can be used as a guide to container drop-and-pull transport. |
