Catenary is an important way to provide power from traction power supply system to electric locomotive, which has an important position in electrified railway. It is of great significance to ensure the safety of catenary working for the railway transportation. When the height of conductor and stagger value exceed the limit, it may lead to pantograph-catenary accident. The existing monitoring devices of catenary is generally fixed, which fixedly monitors some special sections or node. And the existing device is unable to monitor the whole network. Detecting equipment is usually installed in the catenary inspection car and it realizes complete detection by operating with the vehicle. However, it has the disadvantages of low detecting frequency and high uncertainty.Based on the existing model, this paper proposed a way to realize real-time monitoring of height conductor and stagger value by installing detection devices in several electric locomotives. When the values are out of limit, the system will send the information to a same remote information center by wireless. And formed an online monitoring system of catenary safe states by an information center and several on-line monitoring devices.This paper focused on the design of online processing way of monitoring data, wireless communication way and the unified platform. First of all, based on the analysis of the existing geometric parameters measuring method and data processing methods, using the embedded system as online monitoring data processing core which is more suitable for locomotives. Adopted the laser radar as a catenary geometry parameters of measuring equipment. Secondly, in the view of the electric locomotive running range and the external conditions around the tracks, proposed adopting SMS of GSM network as communication way between client and server. According to the limitation on the amount of data of a single message, at the same time under the premise of considering communication cost and communication real-time, proposed the catenary on-line security monitoring overrun judgment cycle and the data sent cycle. Finally, in order to achieve the integrity of the system, this paper has built an integrated system formed with unified data platform and several on-line monitoring equipment, named as the catenary online security status monitoring system. Unified data platform realized the unified management to the on-line monitoring devices, the unification of data record and the unified analysis of catenary faults.
