| Landscape architecture is an integrated discipline, it contains complex issues among the fields of engineering, ecology, history, sociology, culture, art and so on. An excellent landscape architecture work should balance all of the above relevant questions first, and then emphasize the particular solutions to one or two of them. From the perspective of cultural experience, landscape architecture can be regarded as an art form of narrative, the meaning of landscape is an interesting topic which is worthy of research. Many of the famous landscape works or gardens in the history have abundant stories and cultural value, thus modern landscape should have more strong potential of narrating because of its multiple social and cultural backgrounds. The landscape we meet and use everyday can be a kind of public media and respond to us on the mental and psychological aspect. This thesis compares film narratives with landscape narratives, and tries to explore the capability of modern landscape narratives. The author did many works of analogy and analysis between the languages of film and landscape, and also finished a related garden design based on a specific film. This research hopes to enrich the methodology of modern landscape design by absorbing nutrition from cinematographic art, which is also the most attractive narrative medium in this modern world. |
