With the development of the tourism in Changshan Islands, the existing coastal facilities of Pikou Port are not enough which mainly serve for Changhai County’s transportation between the continent and islands. So the expansion engineering of Pikou Port is now extremely urgent.The expansion engineering of Pikou Port consists of3parts:the waterway engineering for vessels of1000tons, the east and west breakwaters engineering and the buildings of2general cargo wharfs for vessels of1000tons.In the article, the engineering location is mentioned, and natural conditions are summed up, including meteorological conditions, hydrological features and geological datas etc. On the basis of them, the designs of layouts and marine structures are performed.First of all, they are worked out according to Design Code of General Layout for Sea Port and natural conditions which are the bottom elevation and effective width of the waterway, the top elevation and width of breakwaters, and the top and bottom elevation of wharf, and then layouts of the three engineerings are worked out and the dredging volume calculated. After that, the ramped structure is chosen as the cross section pattern of breakwaters and cofferdams, for the shallow water, poor soils of the surface layer and abundant rock sources in this area, and the checking calculation for integral stabilities of breakwaters is conducted. At last, according to the shallow bedstone in this area, the structural pattern of wharfs is the gravity quay, and then the checking calculations of stability against sliding and overturning, the checking calculations of the bedding and foundation bearing capacity and the computing of reinforcing caisson are performed.
