In the contemporary china street life, walking and car dealership as two kind oftrip mode have enormous difference. Early20th century, the number of vehicles werenot too many, didn’t pose a threat to pedestrians, while today a large number of carshas been a threat to pedestrian’s life, dignity, value and even their lives. ManyWestern countries have started walking renaissance, seek in the harmony of walkingand car dealership in street life. In contrast, in the Contemporary China city streetlife,the car dealership becomes the lead, the walk receives puzzles,the conflict is veryprominent.Based on this, the author asks the following research question: how does therelation between walking and car dealership developed in the street life,and what kindof experience obtained? In the contemporary street life, what kind of conflict dosewalking and car dealership have? what kind of differences between walking and cardealership cause the contradiction? Whether the conflict can be eased or thoroughlysettled through the design strategy? To achieve the harmony of walking and cardealership,what design methords and principle should street design obey?The thesis is divided into five chapters:The first chapter elaborates briefly the research question’s origin, proposes thepaper research question and the method, Summarizes correlate theories and literaturewith this topic.The second chapter takes the urban space development change as the vein,reviews the history of relations between walking and car dealership briefly in thestreet development.The third chapter makes the positive observation to relations between walkingand car dealership in Changsha street’s life, carries on the reorganization to the relatedstreet material, the author discoveres that the conflict between walking and cardealership is serious in the contemporary street life, the car dealership is powerfull,the walking is weakness.The forth Chapter analyses the causes of conflicts between walking and cardealership——difference of walking and car dealership, including the differencesbetween the characteristics of walking and car dealership, characteristics of the streetspace match the characteristics of walking and car dealership. Based on the principle of contradiction, the author seeking possible contradiction between walking and cardealership.The fifth chapter takes the Western developed country’s street practice ofharmony between walking and car dealership as the inspection object, obtains theenlightenment from the traditional street space and the value, in view of thephenomenon of conflict between walking and car dealership in contemporary streetlife, proposes the street space design strategy for harmony between walking and cardealership, including the walking and car dealership separated strategy, the walkingand car dealership balanced strategy and the criterion fusion strategy.The sixth chapter forecasts the understanding transformation of people toautomobile; Proposes that the urban planning and the design idea should also seekand pursue the idea of harmony between walking and car dealership; Proposes boldlythe walking and car dealership harmonious street space design method and principleof design should follow.The author anticipated that the above research can provide certain mentality andmethod for person vehicle harmonious street space design.
