Regional Concept is a reflection of the traditional culture due to the concerns ofurban convergence in the trend of globalization. At present, Regional Study on thelandscape industry is a re-cognition of traditional culture. It reflects the cultural needsof the times. Geographical thinking is not blind imitation of tradition or the randomuse of local materials, but innovative design based on deep understanding of the targetculture.Boasting a long history and possessing rich cultural features, Memoriallandscape is one type of landscape that materializes human emotions andcomprehensively reflects its culture, life, and economies. In terms of designingmemorial landscape, we need to express its theme, space, and emotion throughmaterialized image. With the development of globalization, memorial landscape, as ahistorical and cultural carrier, should reflect the regional culture on the basis ofthorough understanding of the environment, culture, and technology of the region, sothat its distinctive features can be preserved.This thesis first introduces the definition and related concepts of MemorialLandscape, and then traces its development and analyses its constituent elements andits characteristics. Other aspects that affect memorial landscape are also discussed,such as climate, topography, vegetation, local materials, historical context, folklore,religion, technology. This article focuses on the analysis of the principles andstrategies for the development of regional memorial landscape. It concludes threestrategies, i.e., the geographical strategy, cultural strategy, and technological strategy.The author holds that the developers should integrate the local climate, venue, andmanpower, to preserve the traditional essence with modern techniques. The thesis alsoexemplifies the feasibility with classical and first-hand case studies.The author aims to establish a practical framework for memorial landscapedevelopment and shed some light on further studies in this field. |
