The Research On Application Of Materials In Transformation And Reusing Of Historical Building

Since the beginning of the21st century, the cities in our country gradually entered the development stage of restructuring and transformation of the industrial layout and structural types, the rectification and transformation of urban land’s function, have been becoming a lot of urban construction, in particular, the major problem of the old city renovation process, in which, how to effectively reuse and transform the historic building has become the focus of the attention of the community. As the witness of a city’s history and the successor of the urban context, historic building is an integral part of the city, which not only has historical value and sentimental value, through reasonable transformation and reusing, it also has high practical value and economic value. Thus, transformation and reusing of the historic building, not only has a positive meaning in the continuation of the urban context, maintaining of the city’s geographical features and the protection of the environment, energy saving and other areas, through reasonable design and renovation, to fully explore the historic buildings unique value, it also can inject new vitality to the city, and be a new impetus of the urban development.This paper attempts to start with the using of materials in the transformation and reusing of historic buildings, this research relate to the intersection of materials and renovation and reusing of historical building, from the architectural design perspective, researching the potential of the material itself on the architectural aesthetics,exploring the using of materials in the shaping of architectural form, creating the atmosphere and using in the structural system, the application of ecological energy-saving technology in the renovation and reusing of historical building.This paper includes six parts:the first part introduces several starting points of transformation and reusing of historic buildings, and the important role played by materials in architectural design, which leads to the significance of the study of the utilization of materials in the transformation reusing of historic building, and then it introduces the current situation of the study at home and abroad and several common modes of operation in China, and described the method of the study.In the second part,the relevant characteristics of materials, especially, the aesthetic characteristics of the material are discussed, which is the preparation for the followed discussion; through a combination of a number of successful cases of transformation and reusing of historic building at home and abroad, in the third and fourth parts, the article discussed the repairing strategies of the old materials and application of new materials, summed up the "repair the old as old" and "repair the old as new" two repairing methods of old materials repairing methods, as well as from the three aspects as the building skin, body and space, it discussed the strategies of the application of new materials. The fifth part is the study for the application strategies of the material in structure and technology; Finally, in the sixth section, it described the characteristics of several common materials, and according to the front discussion and analysis, the advantages and disadvantages of these materials in the transformation and reusing of historic buildings field are summarized.
