Large steel truss structure has been widely used in load-bearing structures andtowering structures with larger span of industrial and civil buildings, bridges as well aslarge gymnasiums. The diversity and complication in the construction methods oflarge truss structure lead to complexity of internal force distribution in the stage ofconstruction and force variability of the final formed structure. To ensure theconstruction projects are carried out in a safe, economic and successful way, it isrequired to determine the economic and reasonable construction sequence on thebasis of the objective conditions in the process of structural construction. Thereby, It isquite necessary to have an emulation analysis on large space steel structure for thewhole construction period so as to understand the mechanical properties of structuresduring the construction phase, and to study on a series of issues related to structuralconstruction process as well. How to carry out the simulation analysis by means ofsimulating the construction process has been an important part to ensure the structureconstruction safety and deformation control.The paper aims to have a simulation analysis on the construction process underthe engineering background of the large steel trusses of the Guangzhou UrbanPlanning Exhibition Centre. At present, the main softwares for constructionengineering calculations in large-scale steel truss include ANSYS, ADINA, ABAQUS,ALGOR and SAP2000and etc. The paper adopts calculation and analysis on thesteel truss lifting and turning over process, checking computations on the stability oftemporary support in the cantilevered process and on the hanging points and climinglines, in addition to simulation analysis on the whole construction process of the mainstructure of Guangzhou Urban Planning Exhibition Centre by means of SAP2000. Theresults indicate that the structrual internal force, deformation and stability in the steeltruss construction of the Guangzhou Urban Planning Exhibition Centre all meet therequirements of the "steel construction and acceptance"(GB50205-2001).This article can provide some reference to the simulation analysis on the wholeconstruction process of the large steel trusses.
