Currently,lots of the constructed pavements in China have entered the maintenanceperiod,therefore the research and promotion of economical,effective,ease-of-operation,preventative maintenance methods are urgently needed.Micro-surfacing as all economic,rapid and effective preventive maintenance technology, can improve anti-sliding,closure,andwater infiltration performance of the road surface,and improve the appearance and surfacesmoothness and outstanding features such as repair of track.Micro-surfacing is suitable forpreventive maintenance engineering of highway pavemen.Micro-Surfacing shall consist of a mixture of an approved polymer modified asphaltemulsion,mineral aggregate,water and specified additives,proportioned,mixed anduniformly spread over a properly prepared surface. It has the advantages of convenientconstruction,simple technics, saving resource and low pollution,which can not only restoredifferent types of deterioration,but also improve skid resistance, abrasion resistance andwaterproof performance. The site supply operating technology of Micro-Surfacing duringconstruction changed the traditional supply manner. In the construction site, the site supply ofa variety of raw materials in the micro-surfacing using the paver car, will greatly improve theefficiency and quality of construction.This subject initiates new research contents and research methods on the basis ofcombination of engineering practice and using for domestic and foreign reference, whichdesign detailed study about micro-surface the material and mixture. A great many ofexperiments were carried out to make comprehensive research on the materials,gradation andmix design under the direction of many home or overseas documents and guidelines,and thansome applications and field tests were performed in order to evaluate the performance andcost-effectiveness of Micro-Surfacing,and some unexpected questions which emerged inconstruction were analyzed and solved finally.The results of this paper indicate that Micro-Surfacing,which with good use impressionand pavement performance has extensive application prospect and should be popularized toresolve the question of deterioration on expressway....
