At the beginning of the new century, the16th Party Congress put forward thegrand goal of building a moderately prosperous society, and made the strategicdecision to revitalize the northeast old industrial base. Especially in2007and2008,our country has approved the implementation of a plan to reinvigorate northeast andChina’s Tumen River Area Cooperation Development Plan–taking Changchun, Jilin,and Tumen as the guild area of development and opening up, which is a newrequirement for the whole development of Changchun City. As the hinterland of theTumen River Area, Changchun City’s position increased dramatically in the Northeastand Northeast Asia, and will become the gather place of resources elements, industrialand technological innovation place, international logistics hub, and the Northeast Asiainternational Business service base for the Tumen RiverArea,.To accelerate the development and revitalization of the Changchun City isimportant to Jilin Province and Northeast regions, which requires coordinatedregional development that takes Changchun City as the core, accelerate the integrationof regional resources to form the overall joint force to accelerate the industrializationand urbanization and agricultural modernization process. Facing of new opportunitiesand challenges, it is a problem for Changchun City that how to sort out the urbandevelopment historical context, and make full use of urban regional developmentresources in the context of new regional development, and there are much-neededthinking and to be solved problems in the future, such as adjusting the urban functionsreasonably to determine the new direction of urban development, expanding urbanspace, re-organizing urban spatial structure, breaking the bottleneck of urbandevelopment, and they are also the key town-planning research projects.Through the combing Changchun City history and the evolution of urban space,the paper analyzes carefully the driving force factors and mechanisms of theChangchun city development and makes the judgment of urban spatial developmenttrends, and also gives the space reconstruction path of the concrete implementation.
