With the fast development of the construction machinery industry in China,it is getting more and more competitive in the excavator market.In these factors,quality is more important than the others.The welding parts,as the bearing parts,usually work under the heavy loaders especially the excavator’s boom,and it has the biggest risk of being destroyed.The quality of the boom is one of the factors to effect the reliability of the whole machine.One kind of our company’s excavators,although got more acceptance of the customers in performance, economy and comfort. However, in some special bad working conditions, exposed some problems because of the aggravating workloader.Among them, boom fault feedbackwas the most intense.So, this topic is based on how to reduce the failure rate of the boom, and improve the product quality. I did some research about the product structure and producing process, in order to find out some effective ways to control it.Firstly,1did the research about the structure.and found it existed great stress concentration in some parts of the boom through the finite element analysis,especially in the destroyed areas of the market feedback.So I made the boom more reasonable through the structure optimization to decrease the stress concentration.It made the boom more strong.The welding is one of the key processes,and it is also very important for the quality of the boom.If the welding is bad.it also can cause the bailure of the boom directly.So considering the equioment and welding method.I improved the welding parameters,such as the welding voltage, welding current, welding speed especially in the robot welding process.to make them more reasonable to assure the reliability of the boom.Through the two implementations,the research solved the problem of the boom effectively.And the new product got well validated in the market.So the reaearch achieved the task and goal effectively.
