Risk problems in large and medium-sized pumping stations were studied based on the theories and methods of risk analysis. The main contents include the following aspects:(1)The definition and characteristics of risk were introduced, and the conception, purpose and principles on risk analysis were described. The main contents of risk analysis were summarized, and methods of the risk analysis were researched more in-depth.(2)Risk identification techniques, guidelines and means in pumping stations were studied. The whole analysis of the main risk in pumping stations consists of the buildings, electrical and mechanical equipment and metal structures. The dangerous identification system was established. Under this identification system, the risk identification for one pumping station was carried.(3)The risk factors and the main failure routes that may exist in pumping stations were analyzed. The model for fault tree analysis on running risk of pumping stations was established based on fault tree analysis, and qualitative and quantitative analysis of pumping stations was carried. The pumping stations risk rating was also explored.(4)Based on object-oriented program design, risk assessment and auxiliary system was developed. The ultimate goal of this system is to calculate top event probability of fault tree and to determine pumping stations risk rating.(5)The basic theory of risk early-warning used in running pumping stations is discussed. Three-dimensional structure of the risk early-warning and PSR logic structure were analyzed. and a compound index system for risk early-warning was built. On this basis, the risk early-warning alert level was explored.
