As non-renewable natural resource reducing and development of socialeconomy rapid growing today, demand of electricity is rapid increasing in China, sothe development and utilization of nuclear power is more and more urgented. As thekey equipment of high temperature gas cooled reactor in nuclear power, the helium-cooled drive motor also more and more get attention on research and development. In this paper, based on the design characteristics study of the4500kW helium-cooled drive motor, a new theory that the magnetic circuit of rotor yoke is composedof two parts in two poles large magnetic axis induction motor. Correspondingformulas are given by simulating equicalent circuit and are proved accurate by finiteelement model. At the same time, in view of the special cooling medium, thewindage loss calculation formula is deduced by fluid dynamics knowledge whenhelium gas as coolant, and then windage losses under different speed are got byestablishing fluid field simualation model. The results are compared with fluiddynamics calculation’s results and proved accuracily. The paper summeds up a set ofelectromagnetic design program for helium drive motor and compileselectromagnetic design software that can calculate from two ways: field and road. Finally, according to the motor strength theory and the finite element method, themotor rotor punching sheet and the end are respectively checked. The strength checkresults show that rotor punching sheet is not fit into the axial ventilation channelstructure. A new end structure that could availably reduces the local stressconcentration phenomenon is put forward.
