Study On The Design Of Community Library

The rapid development of information technology and the changing lifestyles hasbrought great changes to the library building. As a hub for cultural heritage andinformation dissemination, the library’s nature and content are increasingly beyondthe scope of the definition of the traditional library, community library is one of them.To serve convenience as the primary principles, the community library provideresidents with practical learning, leisure and other services, and enhance communitycohesion. It is very popular in Europe, America, Singapore, Japan and otherdeveloped areas. China is in a rapid development period; new residential areas areconstantly emerging. The rapid development of economic needs more knowledge tosupply; the construction of community also led to many social problems, the needs oflibrary buildings are increasingly urgent. Based on the research of the foreigncommunity library’s development and case, we preliminary analysis architecturaldesign principles of community libraries, and provide important reference for China’sdevelopment and construction.Full-text is divided into five chapters, which focus on Chapter3，4and5.Conclusion part makes a general summary to the study.Chapter1, introduction. This chapter describes the research background andsignificance of thesis, determines the research objectives and methodology, andconstructs the logical framework of study.Chapter2, overview of community library building. This chapter analysis therelated concepts of community libraries, and the difference in community librarybetween other types of libraries. In addition, the paper reviewed the developmentprocess of community library at home and abroad, organized foreign developmentmodel, and then pointed out the existing problems of China.Chapter3, studies the community library building case abroad. This chapterstudied12communities in four regions, such as United States, Europe, Singapore andJapan. Summarized and compared these cases, we preliminary understandiedcharacteristics and requirements of the community library building.Chapter4, the analysis of the community library building’s design. This partbased on an earlier analysis of the case. We study the location, shape, interior space,technical requirements and other aspects of the community library, and then summed up the general design principles.Chapter5, the trends and recommendations of the community librarybuilding．Based on the analysis above, the study forecasts the developing trend of thecommunity library building. At the same time, the study combined with the actualsituation of China’s national conditions and proposed solutions to this problem, thengive some advises to it．...
