Boiler is important power and thermal energy equipment in the production of industrial automation, of which the safe operations are extremely significant to the whole production. However, the traditional operation training tends to increase the potential dangers of misuse. Therefore, it is imperative to design a boiler simulation system for the further training.Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) technology is the best means to achieve simulation training system. This topic built a boiler control system based on Matlab/RTW, and provided a secure, real operating platform for boiler training. Firstly, through rational analysis of the production process of oil-fired boiler, the simulation model has been developed. And then, an industrial control network system has been built, integrating Siemens PLC, ABB PLC and RTU, realizing the real control of boiler model. Finally, the monitoring system of has been designed by Siemens WinCC and completed the function of real-time monitoring and parameters tuning.The operation effects show that the overall control and real-time performance is basically similar with the real industrial production process. The successful application of the system is not only proved the feasibility and superiority of HIL, but also provides en effective operation training platform for operators.
