Material testing machine is an important equipment for the detection of material properties, with the material performance requirements increasingly strict, traditional material testing machine has encountered a bottleneck. This paper developed an electronic materials testing machine based on embedded Linux which contains a high-precision data acquisition, closed-loop motor control, real-time data processing, personalized test configuration. The paper’s main work is reflected in the following aspects:(1) Design and separation core board and backplane hardware system based on the ARM chip. The core board using a six panels high frequency alignment design and backplane using a modular two-layer board design to ensure the system’s high reliability, stability and high-precision data acquisition with real-time;(2) According to the structure of the hardware system, data acquisition and display software system was designed and implemented based on embedded Linux. Including embedded Linux platform, data acquisition and closed-loop motor control module driven design, real-time data processing and storage, material testing process real-time data acquisition and processing;(3) For the needs of the user experience, developed a touch user interface based QT4.5, including the main testing interface, test interface, user-configured interface. The entire process is based on touch operation, the user can easily implement testing process; through user configuration and test set, we can achieve a variety of system configurations and personalized control of the testing process.Through testing and validation, the material testing machine control system developed in this paper can highly meet the national standard of electronic materials testing machine requirements, and make a outstanding performance in the force/displacement data signal acquisition, PWM closed-loop motor control, touch operation speed of response. The introduction of a color LCD touch-based input display system provides a significantly performance in the users operating experience.
