With the fast development of the electronic technology, it is acknowledged that integration is the developing direction of the testing system for refrigerating machine. It is the tendency to improve the testing system for refrigerating machine by employing embedded-system technology and networking technology. In this dissertation, an embedded system was designed and implemented based on CAN bus for testing refrigerating machine. The whole system was designed as a proposal to substitute for Industrial Personal Computer as epigynous machine.This system was designed based on embedded hardware system and embedded operating system with the refrigerating machine as testing object. Data was collected by sensors and sent to Single-Chip Microcomputer, Single-Chip Microcomputer processed it and then transmitted it to the embedded system via CAN bus. Linux operating system on the embedded hardware system got the data by CAN bus device driver, later it could be read by opening the device file, finally users could check it from the graphic interface.The main tasks of the dissertation include follows: the designed of the hardware system, mainly the hardware including each part of electric circuits designed; the buid of cross-compiling environment, software was compiled on PC and then downloaded to the embedded system, adjusting and testing job was also done on PC via serial port; the build of the embedded Linux kernel, Linux source code was cut and configurated according to the hareware; the port of embedded file system, YAFFS2 file system which could be read and written was used as the embedded root file system; the design of CAN-bus device driver, Operating System could read data from CAN device file and showed it on LCD. Finally, function testing and performance evaluation was carried out on the device as well as the future research topics were discussed.
