In recent decades, the displacement of inland dump sand vessel has been increasing rapidlyand reached7000ton. The number of inland dump sand vessel in charge of GuangdongMarine Board is over2600. However, the collision accidents of sand vessels occur morefrequent nowadays. For example, through the security situation analysis of Foshan theaccident of ships carrying sand and stone accounts for about70%of the total number ofcollisions..This paper introduces the development of the conveyor and its existing security risks of theinland dump sand vessel as well as the current research of the subject. Moreover, weemphasis on the overview of the telescopic conveyor’s layout and the characteristics of threekinds of telescopic conveyor.By the final element computing program MSC Patran/Nastran, more accurate results ofthe strength analysis of the various conditions of the conveyor can be obtained when thedirect calculation of the overall structure of the conveyor of "Guangdong Qingyuan Cargo29xx" vessel is performed with three-dimensional finite element strength analysis.After making an economical analysis comparison of the old conveyor and the new as wellas doing some optimization of the three kinds of universal conveyor, we finally recommendthe more excellent conveyor for shipowners.("Guangdong Qingyuan Cargo29xx" vesselprograms).
