| The science of color has been used in various fields concerning design. Environmental color design for buildings should be unique as a direct reflection of its exterior environmental characteristics. With the acceleration of urbanization in recent years, architecture design shows a mechanical copy from foreign design concept, with environmental color disorder arising.How to apply environmental color design to arouse us particular kinds of feelings requires examination and consideration of the relationship between color and environment design and between human being and the environment.The purpose of this paper is, based on a complete comprehension and summarization of the existing color design theory and method and some classic cases in architecture, to put forward a set of feasible steps for building exterior environment color design, as a scientific reference for color design practice.The study first summarizes the origin, development, and research achievements of building exterior environment color design at home and abroad, and then analyzes the necessity of color in creating the environment atmosphere and connotation, and finally introduces out ways to realize color in environment design, with an emphasis on three matters requiring great attention in typical building exterior environment color design. The paper concludes by giving steps as starting from building function then to exterior environment quality, and finally to completing color design in accord with the need of building users based on the corresponding color design principle and steps,.The first part consists of the first two chapters. It starts with an analysis in the current situation of research, and then introduces the purpose, content, significance and method of this research, and some concept and basic knowledge in architectural color design related to this thesis research. This part, with the basic knowledge and research direction, actually serves as a preparation and guidance for the following research.The second part, made up of the third, fourth, and fifth chapters introduces into details the effect of color design on building exterior environment, first from general function of color, then the basic ways to realize color in building design, and finally specific functions of color in three kinds of spatial form in building exterior environment.The third part is the sixth chapter. This part puts forward the procedures in design and four principles in design, which are overall harmonious, people-oriented, civilization-inherited, and eco-friendly,.The fourth part consists of the seventh and eighth chapter. Color design case analysis at home and abroad is used to demonstrate how colors are wisely arranged in order. The eighth chapter is conclusion with the researcher’s feelings and reflection on the basic design essentials, and first to understanding people’s feelings that is brought by color, and then to configuring the color’s tone of cold and warm by different function of architecture, at last to concluding the design order, that is whole, people first, ecological environmental protection,and cultural heritage. Also the end looks into the distance of building exterior environment color design towards a diversification in combination with wider knowledge. |
