| Ancient Egyptian is the first chapter of architecture history, also it is the important aesthetic system in human history. Analysis on the morphological system of ancient Egyptian architecture is helpful to find the common morphological model of human. Ancient Egyptian architecture begins in pyramids, and ends in temples, which undergoes an evolution from substance to space. The historical facts of ancient Egyptian evolution demonstrate the truth:Space is the essence of architecture.The thesis includes three parts:(1) The idea model of ancient Egypt:By the two relationships——human and human, human and nature, the author analyses the idea of ancient Egypt. Moreover, the rituals of making tombs and determining time and space reflect the four divine qualities of architecture:square, orientation, time and space.(2) The substance symbol of ancient Egypt:Mastaba and Benben are the symbols of monarchy and theology. Although they are substance, actually they include the elements in space:Path and Rectangular coordinate system, which were merged together in the form of the pyramid.(3) The space of ancient Egyptian architecture:After the pyramid, the worship of substance gradually declines, but the pursuit of space and path improves persistently. From pyramid temples, valley mausoleums, to the ultimate form-the Longitudinal box space of temples.The author’s research on ancient Egyptian architecture is based on a domestic and international study, combined with the method of architecture morphology. The author has no intention to study Egyptian architecture from the view of history and archaeology, but try to reveal the logical inevitability in the process of its morphology development. |
