| China has various natural conditions and colorful folk cultures, which contribute to all kinds of architectures with different kinds of forms. Many ancient villages and ancient houses are extraordinary treasures of the folk architectural culture. Most of them are made by common people and folk craftsmen, exemplifying a successful combination of native spirit and exquisite technique over long-term accumulation. Settlement is a social living system combining space, culture and economy together. Under the influence of natural environment and historical background, different settlements demonstrate distinct regional features. Chinese rural settlements are epitome s of our ancient agriculture society; and its miniaturization and closure help to stably development across different historical periods and social backgrounds.This paper uses Yu’s family village in Jingxing County as the case study for its completeness. Through the methods of on-site research, documents collection, systematic induction and analysis, this paper goes from the entirety to individuals, from general to specific, in order to study how the natural geographic, climate, environment, human history, folk, customs and social environment had an influence on the settlement of Yu’s family village, and to study the features and relationship among individual elements in the settlement. The results of this paper lie in the classification of the ancient architecture in Jingxing County; the systematic study on architecture forms, structural systems, construction techniques and architectural decoration; explore the architectural value and art value of the ancient villages, which are rich in historical and regional features. The paper ends with the conclusion of how to protect and benefit from the traditional architectures in Yu’s family village. |
