The unceasing development and application of modern heat pipe technology has brought tremendous changes to recover waste heat of kiln, reduce heat emissions and improve efficiency of kiln. This paper focuses on the heat pipe waste heat boiler for research object and designs a set of thermodynamic and hydraulic calculation software of heat pipe waste heat boiler by Visual Basic6.0, Excel2003and Access2003. The software will put thermodynamic and hydraulic calculation on the visual interface, so it has advantages in high development efficiency, flexible design, strong interactivity, while improving the accuracy of the design and check calculation.The paper studies heat transfer situation of heat pipe waste boiler in different structure, different arrangement, different pipe diameter, whether augment heat transfer, and establishes thermodynamic and hydraulic calculation model, determines the program flow chart,and compiles the calculation program according to the different flow chart. At the same time, it introduces application of this software, and studies results of calculation combined with engineering examples. Functions of this software include:saving and opening database, thermodynamic and hydraulic calculation and outputting results, and the thermodynamic calculation divides into design calculation and check calculation, and the hydraulic calculation only contains natural circulation calculation. The computational results are presented to the user in the form of visual interfaces and Excel tables, which contain:waste heat boiler structure data, heat pipe total area, total numbers and each row numbers, and the gas physical parameters, water and vapor physical parameters, the total evaporation capacity, the system enthalpy, steam quality by mass and total system circulation multiple, etc. Taking a factory heat pipe waste heat boiler as an example, the paper analyzes the influences to waste heat boiler that thermal parameters, structure parameters, the supply water temperature and drum pressure, which can provide the theoretical data to design, optimize and operate heat pipe waste heat pipe boiler.
