The large capacity power plant coal-fired boiler was taken as study object in this paper. According to the standard method of boiler unit thermodynamic calculation and up-to-date achievements in boiler industry, the principles and methods of the power plant coal-fired boiler thermodynamic calculation were analysed, and the thermodynamic calculation model was established.In the light of analysing the boiler thermodynamic calculation model, the software which includes all kinds of relative classes such as the heat-transfer unit class,fluid medium class and other assistant class was developped based on Java. It can be applied to the power plant coal-fired boiler with different structures of heating surface and diffe- rent working medium flows under different operation conditions. The thermodynamic calculation of the boiler whose capacity is 1067t/h was carried out under experimental conditions, by comparing with the experimental data, the model was verified to be cor- rect and the software was reliable. At the end, Conclusions about boiler working perfor- mances under varied operating conditions were drawn out by analysing the computation results , and these conclusions can provide security and economy references .The large capacity power plant coal-fired boiler thermodynamic calculation methods and software can be applied to the power plant coal-fired boiler with different structure of heating surface and different working medium flow. It is significant for the designer to analyse and compare each design schemes and to select the optimal design scheme and for the operator to analyse and compare each operating condition and to select the optimal operating condition.
