With the formation of high-grade highway network in china, road passenger transporthas a rapid development as the main body of the passenger traffic. However, the following isthe traffic accident frequency, caused great damage to people’s life and property. In the biggestcasualties of the four collision accident form, bus front collision accident become a "potentialkiller" with its high incidence is40%, fatality rate is76%, damage rate is33%. Vehicle safetyincluding active safety and passive safety, car body structure safety is the scope of passivesafety.Good body structure can reduce casualties, providing a protective effect to passenger.However, due to a variety of reasons, study on the safety of the bus front collision is less atdomestic and overseas present, mainly reflects in the lack of evaluation standard andexperimental method.Therefore, it has a great significance to carry out study on bus structurefrontal crash safety and the safety evaluation method.This paper selects the three most common models in the market, set models in urnaccording to the method and standard of the finite element modeling.Then,study two largepassenger cars (6127and6123) separately. Analyzes vehicle deformation, energy absorption,acceleration and driving area of living space of this two car impact rigid barrier in differentspeed (20km/h,30km/h,40km/h,50km/h);introduce the occupant restraint system to thesetwo passenger cars, analyzes driver damage in different speed, in particular study occupantmovement characteristics and damage in different constrained type. In view of the typicalcollison form in the actual accident, the test vehicle was conducted a100%frontal crash、40%bias and30degree beveled crash simulation. The condition of crew injury are researched inthe form of three forms. Combined with a large number of test data coming from simulation,proposed a evaluation index about drive’s suvival space and then,proposed the evaluationmethod based on the suvival space of the driving area of the safety limits and proposed aevaluation method based on the performance ratings’passengers damage result from thefrontal crash and they and regularization all evaluate the safty of frontal crash.At last, the rear chassis of medium bus are fixed some holder in order to improve thestability. To design a force transmission rod to optimize the transfer pass; to invent a energyabsorption devices in order to absorb fully the energy. The result shows the vehiclecrashworthiness can be improved obviously by means of the three improvement measures.The results of this article can provide some reference for bus frontal collision simulationanalysis, vehicle test and standard formulation and development and evaluation of bus infrontal crash safety.
