With the development of automotive industry and the improvement of living level, coach is used as the first choice of many people during touring because of economical and fast character. People required the safety when traveling by coach, so they pay more and more attention to the body structure crashworthiness of coach.To protect the passengers' lives, specially reduce the death and injuries in collision or side rolling accident, laws and regulations for the safety of coach body structure have been promulgated internationally. To catch the steps of international, our country has also carried out regulations about the safety of coach body structure referred to ECE R52, ECE R66, ECE R107 and so on. However, it is noteworthy that those regulations domestic and foreign presently are only restricted in the general requirement of body structure, the safety requirement of on-board devices and accessories, as well as the side-rolling collision crashworthiness,lack of the requirement and evaluating indicators about frontal impact and crashworthiness.The China Coach Standard Committee intended to constitute "Coach Frontal Structure Strength" standard between 2008 and 2009, completed the safety standards of working coach, and constituted the practical operations according to the technical requirements of standards, so established Chinese working coach safety standard system. Based on this project, this article used explicit finite element analysis software LS-DYNA, has carried on front pendulum impact and impact rigid wall finite element simulations to a high bed coach's body structure. And made safety performance evaluation and analysis for this coach on the basis of frontal impact safety evaluation methods mentioned before. In the end this article improved the frontal safety performance for the coach by reinforcing the coach frontal structure. The purpose of the research is to find the evaluation methods of coach frontal safety regulations by using simulation calculation method for coach frontal impact, so form the equivalent test methods for simulation calculation of the frontal impact safety, and constitute "Coach Frontal Structure Strength" standard.This research can offer some help for understanding of the coach deformation characteristics in frontal collision. It also helps for further study and improving the safety performance of coach frontal collision.
