As material civilization becomes gradually more prosperous, people start to persuehigh-quality spiritual satisfaction. Since the comprehensive civilization of cities is alwaysdirectly manifested by commercial pedestrian streets, it is one of the most essential topicsof urban planning to design these streets, as cities’ landmarks, more stereoscopically, vividly and distinctively. This thesis, from an interface perspective, regards urban commercial pedestrianstreets as a research object, and analyzes their spatial environment. The paper collects anddiscusses related theories, principles, conditions, materials, techniques, structures, etc, byusing assorted research methods such as document induction method, multidisciplinarysynthesis method, field research method, behavioral observation method, case comparisonand analysis method, etc. Based on the study of theories and actual projects, this paperpresents some ways of environmental art design of urban commercial pedestrian streetsduring the research, relating excellent international cases with theoretical demonstrationand putting experiences into practice to study that urban commercial pedestrian streetinterface creates interior space inwards, in order for architecture to fulfill the spatialenclosing function and all kinds other functions, and that it also creates public urbanenvironmental space outwards, in order for city streets to realize their urban functions.Furthermore, in the process of study and practice, the thesis absorbs the essence anddiscards the dross, finally attains useful research statistics and theoretical methods, thus ithelps to propose a relatively successful design. The text is divided into four parts:Part One (Chapter Two): The definition of urban commercial pedestrian streets. Itmainly elaborates their concepts, classifications, functions and natures.Part Two (Chapter Three-Five): The bottom interface, the side interface, the top interface and the endpoint interface of urban commercial pedestrian streets. It mainlyelaborates, analyzes and demonstrates the forming and the character of each interface.Part Three (Chapter Six): Case study--the reform design of the urban commercialpedestrian street in Shengli North Road, Xinyu. It mainly puts the concept of interface intodesign, and conducts background analysis, strategy analysis, overall design, facade reformand node design.Part Four (Chapter Seven): Conclusion. Through studying and demonstrating thespatial environment of urban commercial pedestrian street interface, it relates theories withpractice, and summarizes the gain and lose during the process, thus it can alwaysameliorate the designs and ideas.
