The optical encoder is one of the crucial opponents of servo drive and control system. Its resolution and installation error are also important factors for affecting the performanceof servo drive system. In order to drive the motor correctly, the mechanical-zero of motordraft and the phase-zero of optical encoder have to be adjusted to the same location. Thisstep is manually done by the motor manufacturer. In order to fulfill automation of the adjustment of encoders, an instrument for thephase-zero adjustment of optical encoder is designed improve the accuracy of adjustment, reduce the human error and the workload, realize the friendly man-machine interface ofconvenient operations and support various types of optical encoders. This instrument drivesthe servo motors and adjusts the encoders attached to motor drafts, by the principles of FieldOriented Control, SVPWM Control Mode and the PID Control Strategy. An ARM-basedcontrol circuit and a power driving circuit are designed. During the development of systemsoftware, programming based on state machine is applied, and the system modules andprogram flow are developed according to system working states. Related experiments areperformed on the experimental platform of prototype instrument. The results of theseexperiments indicate that the very instrument has the features of simple operations,general-purpose and high performance. At present, the machine has been put into practicalapplication and satisfies the requirements of motor manufacturer.
