| The higher education of China has made great progress in the new century with theincreasing scale of college teaching buildings, in which the development of public space isthe most compelling part. Contemporary public space design of college teaching buildings,and gradually breaking the previous independent layout, is progressing towards thedevelopment of open and pluralistic direction, and focusing on the relevance of the layoutand functional diversity. Although the area of public space has been greatly enhanced, itneglects to create a sense of place, public space doesn’t fully play its function, meanwhilethe "big and empty" phenomenon emerges.This paper makes public space ofcontemporary college teaching building as the research object, especially taking publicspace of new Comprehensive Teaching Buildings of key universities in Wuhan, with theuse of literature, observation interviews, questionnaires and etc. focusing on "creating asense of place" to conduct a systematic study, aimed at improving the sense of place in theteaching building explore the design strategy of it.It discusses the development of public space in the teaching buildings, combing withthe relevant international design theory of "creating sense of place ".On this basis, theauthor selects the Weston12teaching building of HuaZhong University of Science andTechnologyã€the WenTai teaching building of Zhongnan University of Economics andLaw〠the Northern5teaching building of China University of Geosciences and theFirstly teaching building of WuHan University, from the211key colleges anduniversities in Wuhan as main case material, respectively expanding a systematic studyfrom the aspects of space form, interface structure and ancillary facilities.The researchmethods on-the-spot investigation and questionnaire analysis of a combination, collect theon-the-spot quantitative data and questionnaire data collected in the comprehensivecomparison of quantitative analysis, finally draws the corresponding conclusion.FINDINGS:The sense of public space in teaching building is triggered by the person andenvironmental material, information, energy flow has significant relationship.The guideelement is about three respects: spatial form and classification, the interfacial tissue andauxiliary facilities. |
