China’s urbanization has now experienced a staggering rate with millions of ruralareas and peasants being urbanized. Urbanization is both an opportunity and a chanllengefor rural areas. Under such urbanization,traditional villages would face collapse andreorganization of community relations,which means urbanization should provide enoughsupport in resource,environment and infrastructure. Meanwhile,urbanization should creatnew community relations.This thesis focuses on the community relations’ reorganization of transformedvillages and peasants under urbanization which includes rural areas’ economicaldevelopment,landuse planning,civil rights reorganization,population resettlement andvarious factors affect urbanization such as governmental policies and local societalautonomy development. All theses aspects are on the basis of existing local society andeconomy,which means traditional community relations and regional culture are essentialto the research on the transformation form urbanized rural villages to urban communities.In terms of methods,this research combines theoretical and empirical study,quantitative and qualitative analysis. With urbanized villages in towns as researchobjective,this thesis analyses existed urbanization strategies in China and aboard,concludes their experiences and lessons,references data on local history and gives detailedanalysis and proof of elements in the reorganization of urbanized villages. Based on therequirement of transformation objective,this thesis considers urbanization related issues’flexibility,variability and perspectiveness,faces problems’root and influence,exploresbasic power of development,analyses all factors affect development and puts forwardreasonable suggestions and strategies.
