The Corrugated steam separator is significant to the MSR (Moisture Separator Reheater)equipment for its high separator efficiency. To study and simulate the flow fields insideseparator is rather a large and difficult job because of the complicated fields with twophases and three flow fields. In the paper, the mathematical model on the mechanism ofmovement of liquid droplets is created by studying the formation of droplets and principleof the water-steam separation the flow fields. We try to simulate the flow field and dropsseparating movement via DPM model and carrying out experiments to test and rectify theresult of simulation. We get a lot of useful data on the separation efficiency of corrugatedsteam separator via analyzing the mechanism of droplet behavior and separation, simulatingthe flows and behaviors and carrying out lots of experiments.What I have done as follows.A lot of acquisition work to understand the researches on corrugated steam separator hasbeen done. The principle and types of corrugated steam separator are introduced. Theformation of droplets and mechanism of its movement is analyzed to build themathematical model, and the model is very useful to found the theoretical model of dropletto analyze the two-phase flow. We get the smallest separation diameter of droplet underdifferent inlet velocity by simulating behavior of droplet in the hot and cold state usingFLUENT software. We promote a cold state experimental solution including design of theexperiments plan and selection of the test equipments according to the simulation result. Inview of cold state replacement of hot steam with water by water and air, we verify the influenceof many parameters on the separation efficiency and pressure drop, including inlet velocity,humidity,corrugated plates structure’s back railing, water gutter gap and so on.The research achievements have profound references for the application and developmentof corrugated steam separator in the experimental and theoretical scale.
